Award-Winning Design Merges Technology and Emotion in a Unique Mascot

Inspired by iconic robots that evoke emotional responses, such as R2 D2 and Johnny 5, Creativitea Design Studio embarked on a journey to create a mascot that would serve as the brand's spokesperson. The result was S4, a character designed to deliver the values and technological know-how behind S4nity.

The design process started traditionally with ink and paper, fleshing out shapes and designs for S4. A more defined character sheet was produced later, showcasing different expressions and body parts of S4. The final step involved building a computer-generated model, applying textures and rigging to bring S4 to life in a 3D environment.

The project, which began in November 2011 in the Guildford studio of Creativitea, is an ongoing process. The team behind this innovative design includes Roberto Acuna, Adam Zygadlo, and Rik Barwick.

The main challenge was to create an engaging brand that could make a complex and often dull subject matter interesting and easy to understand.
